Building your conclusions

Your conclusions should be firmly based on the descriptions found in the data.

Here's an example to help

We feel we have evidence to conclude that - Patients who knew what to expect when they arrived at the clinic were most likely to find the facilities satisfactory

We check all our coding such as "information sharing" and "partnership between patients and professionals" or other similar codes.

We find some examples where patients had realistic expectations of the clinic but still found some aspects of the facilities distressing or unhelpful.

Further examination shows that a pattern exists where patients who knew what to expect were satisfied but that two people (who had information about the clinic) had complained that they hadn't been able to find the toilets.

We need to ensure that one of our recommendations is that clear and appropriate signage is provided to the toilets. So we check deviant cases are all accounted for and we verify our conclusions by revisiting the data.
